One of the most fantastic pieces of scenery in the entire Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, in California, is McClure Meadows. To get here by trail the shortest possible way is a ferry across Florence lake followed by a 16 mile hike. I took a longer route and was about 25 miles 2.5 days into my journey when I took this. If you make it here you are treated to pristine mountain beauty without a person in sight (maybe a couple people now and then).
