No idea. I have a silver ipod shuffle and like it. My sister has an ipod mini and she likes it. My brother has a...uh...mm, an old ipod shuffle. Same with my dad.
...they all still work (of course). Oh, my ipod shuffle doesnt work to good with any grado headphones. ;-) lol.
The iPod is a MP3 player. You mean vs. other MP3 players?
My wife has an iPod Nano and it's really nice!! I don't think you can go wrong with the iPod. I'm unsure of other players on the market, sorry. The iPod works fine and I'm running Windows XP so it's not just an Apple product of course.
Durable, yeah...the iPod we have has a metal casing and it HAS been dropped and to date no ill affects!! I do recommend at least a 4GB or higher.
My iRiver is great ... all my friends complain about their iPods so maybe there's something different between the ones over here in oz and the ones where you guys are ... who knows ...

"To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
~ Henri Cartier-Bresson
i think Ipods are more durable.
