Firefox - trouble viewing images on other sites

I'm basically a new user of Firefox, and really only use it for viewing the Caedes web site. However, on occasion I go to other sites via a link, and noticed that some pictures, but not all pictures on a site or forum are viewable. I have to right-click a little icon and select view image, in order to view an image, avatar or smilies. I do not have this problem at Caedes, however. Can someone please tell me how to remedy this. Is there a plug-in or extension that I'm missing. I did check out the different extensions at Firefox, but did not see any applicable to my dilemma. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

I can try to provide some example sites if need be.

Please provide examples.

I've never been aware of images missing...

Thanks Tim..
At this site I am unable to see the little pictures on the right hand side under "gallery", and the icon near the top, next to the word "dream", and under win-customize store on the right side, as well as the avatars and smilies in the bottom comment section. I do see the main image though "blissful sunset".

site

When the pictures are loading on Caedes, for a quick second I see the small icon of where the picture will appear, but then the actual images do appear.

And at Noah's site here , I only see "lines" where pictures should be, but when I hover over the line, the curser changes. After clicking on the line, the picture loads in a new window.

There is an option in Firefox to load images "For the originating web site only". This means that images posted on one web site which are actually stored on a separate web site will not be loaded by default. I'm guessing that you just need to turn off this option.

There is a content option to "load images automatically", which I have ticked. There is an exceptions button to list specific sites in which to not load images. When I unticked this option, no images on any site loaded, and this would force me to list every site that I visit in the exceptions window. Hmm...not sure I want to do that. I just want to be able to see images on all sites.

Thank you for the suggestion though, Caedes :)

What Operating System and version of Firefox are you using?

When I go under Options/Preferences (Depends on OS) --> Content, I see the option for loading images automatically, and the exceptions.

My guess is that you accidentially set Firefox to load only Caedes images, and the rest are blocked because of some rule set.

What entries do you have under exceptions?

I see you mentioned "avatars and smileys" ...

are you registered at this forum you speak of? .. because the Bethesda Softworks forum, for example, doesn't show av's and emo's unless you are registered

www.bethsoft.com - forums

the original poster has a stylized ANKH avatar and there's a smiley in the first post to follow ... but YOU won't see them unless UR reg'd

BOOYAH!!!

(*i actually reg'd just to prove this to myself, though I suspected it was the case)

Operating system: Windows XP
Version of Firefox: 2.0.0.3

When I go under Tools > Options; there are 6 tabs at the top > under Content, there is a choice to "load images automatically", which is ticked. I have set no expections/rules.

Keifer, I have experienced this problem with the above 2 web sites that I listed. I have not checked any other sites yet.

Also of note, I am currently using a different browser as I type this entry, because I get the following message opening Firefox "The connection has timed out" "The server at www.caedes.net is taking too long to respond."
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Clicking "try again", brings the same message. I went under Help > Check for Updates, and it indicates there are no updates. I should also note that Caedes is set as my home page.

To me it looks as though java script is not allowed for the sites you mention. Do you have any add-ons like "No Script" in your Firefox? I use Firefox 2.0.0.3 with java script allowed for caedes and have no problems with any of the caedes sites.

Java is enabled (allowing scripts to move or resize windows). And I have no problem viewing pictures on Caedes. I guess it will be a mystery until I stop using Firefox. But I do appreciate everyone's assistance in trying to figure this out.

You could try this : Under Windows Firewall (control paanel - windows firewall) see under exceptions -(my firefox is in German, so I am only guessing how it is called on yours)- if Mozilla Firefox is there and whether it has been ticked on. If Firefox is not there, then click on Programmes below the list and include firefox on the list. If this also doesn't help, I suggest deinstalling Firefox completely - including deleting all details under windows explorer - Documents and Settings - user name - application data - Mozilla - Firefox and then reinstalling Firefox.

It seems really strange to me that Firefox would act that way...

Do you have a high speed connection?

Raj, your suggestion worked! Odd as it may seem, as I have the Windows Firewall disabled and use McAfee. But Mozilla Firefox was not on the list in Windows Firewall, so I added it. I also checked McAfee to ascertain that Firefox had full access, which it did. I closed Firefox and reopened, and was able to see the images on the sites I posted above. Thank you so much, Raj! And thanks to everyone else for your help. :)
