My name is Chris (but most folks call me Gator...long story!). I consider myself a serious amateur photographer, but I'm the first to admit I still have a lot to learn. I recently purchased a Kodak 6.1 megapixel, 12X zoom Z612...I love it!
At the moment, I don't use anything but the camera and the "Autocorrect" feature of my image editor, but I like the amazing results that I see so much that Photoshop is on the birthday wish list!
I stumbled onto this site and was amazed at the incredible photos posted. I'm looking for constructive criticism from folks like you who know how to take great photos.
I uploaded my first photo (...Of Ages Past) today and welcome any and all feedback.
I'm kind of where you are Chris. Just yesterday I purchased the Nikon D40X because the people and pictures on this site made me want to get working on my way to becoming a pro.
This site is great because you can connect with some serious photographers out there that have really great tips. Everyday on this site I learn something more.
I guess I'll take this second to thank all the discussion board posters out there that have helped me in the past with my many questions. You guys have truly made this site a fantastic source of knowledge.
Hope you find this site as 'homey' as I have, Chris. Welcome to Caedes.net
Thanks for the welcome. I took a stroll through your gallery...I really liked "Static in the Sky". Like everyone else, I seem to be drawn to lightning photos...must be because we can't control it that we're drawn to it so much. Very skillful...the photo and 'splaining to the Police Man! I'll be looking for your new uploads...
WELCOME to Caedes Gator!! I've commented on your swan shot...very precious!!
You'll really enjoy it here, much to learn from many, many grrreat people!! I learn something at least weekly if not more!! Have fun and keep the post flyin'!!
ps: this thread would probably be more suited for Non-Art Website Issues or more so Offtopic..we'll let it slide this time. Hehehe, it takes a while, I know.
Thanks for the welome! I promise to be more cognizant of the thread placement in the future...lol. I lear something everytime I log on just by looking at the content and angle of some of the photos taken.
I didn't know about GIMP, but will definitely take a look at it. I'm off to Rothenberg today...not every day you get the chance to shoot a medieval walled city settled in 900!
