Histogram

I am new to digital photography and trying to understand and analyse my exposures. What information can I get out of the histogram? A few simple hints would be helpful. What I have read so far has been confusing.
Thanks!

I'd say the article Keifer links to in that thread he mentioned sums it up pretty well.

Who would have ever thought that taking a photograph could be so darned complicated? Thanks for the links!!

Histograms Just "Are"
