Well, you know I am the queen of gossip...so here's the latest. Ellen Degeneres, Mutts and Moms...IGGY-GATE.

Some history.
E.D adopted a dog from an organization called Mutts and Moms
Apparently some procedures were passed over, such as background check, spay/neuter, etc
A "contract" was signed
Fast forward, the dog "Iggy" does not fit in well at E.D's home. E.D gives said dog to her hairdresser and family.
Mutts and Moms take back "Iggy" claiming breach of contract, after phoning E.D and asking about dog, to which E.D honestly says she found a new home for.
---It gets juicy here---
M&M forcibly remove dog from new home, E.D goes on show admits she didn't read all of the contract and asks that the 2 girls have "Iggy" returned.
M&M claims they don't adopt to families with kids under 14 (kids are like 13 and 11)
M&M gets death threats, closes biz temporarily.
M&M places "Iggy" in yet another home only days later.
M&M found to be operating with suspended license, questionable tax payments.

---According to the California Secretary of State’s Web site, the Mutts & Moms corporation has been suspended since December 2006 when they failed to file a “statement of information.”---

So as one blogger stated...

1) CA law REQUIRES that animals be spayed/neutered BEFORE being placed. The Vincent Law (AB 1856) (signed into law by Governor Pete Wilson in 1998) requires that all animals adopted from a public or private shelter be spayed or neutered prior to release from the shelter.

2) M&M is not registered with the Attorney General's Registry of Charitable Trusts

3) Their CA business license is SUSPENDED (before all this media)

4) They did NOT do a home inspection of Ellen and Portia's house before placing...in THEIR contract that M&M must do.

5) M&M never asked Ellen to fill out an application. They just did the adoption. Why did they break their own rule like this?
They trusted her enough to not fill out an app., so therfore I would assume they trusted her without question.

Ellen broke a CLAUSE in a contract.

M&M broke clauses AND laws


Realize this is just fun gossip, but I'd love to hear your thoughts.
For me, as a mom...I'd be pissed if someone forcibly removed a pet, and by doing so broke my kids hearts. So the way I see it, what Ellen did or did not do contractually, M&M also broke their own policies...and by taking "Iggy", I think they are just as wrong. As long as the family wasn't abusing "Iggy", he should have been allowed to stay. Their job is to find GOOD homes..."Iggy" was already in a good home, he was removed, and now another family is involved...and they may or may not retain custody of "Iggy". What the hell sort of pet adoption agency is this place?? The poor dog is being bounced around, kids are being heartbroken...OMG!!!!

PS- Having worked for a vet, and volunteering at the SPCA, I can see the point of wanting to pair the animal to the best people, however, I feel that M&M are not being flexible or open minded...they want to "punish" the Ellen's of the world, the celebrities...HOWEVER...the family E.D gave Iggy to are not celeb's...and THEY are the ones being punished, as is poor bounced around Iggy.

Oh and for the record, Miss I'm broke...prescription Chanel Glasses are very EXPENSIVE...perhaps you should have used that money to pay for dog food, etc that you say you cannot afford.

Well obviously this M & M place made alot of mistakes... but I can't really understand why someone would take a dog (or any other pet) if they weren't prepared to look after it themselves... a puppy isn't just for christmas, as they say... (they're also delicious for thanksgiving).
