I've got my first freelance web design job. Now I need some input on my design.
Bear the following in mind though. This is a prototype. Not all the links are working (only the Home and Prince Albert links work). The site is built for speed due to most user's accessing it with 56k dailup. Some graphics will still be added to the logo.
In the property sections only the details of the properties are displayed. Images will also be added if they are available (which they aren't at the moment).
The client didn't provide much as far as content goes, so I'm struggling a bit to make the site work.
To top it all of, he only has 1MB of space for hosting! Can you believe it! Hopefully I can get him to upgrade to better hosting.
Oh, and everything is XHTML and CSS valid even though the ad on the site I'm using to prototype throws it all off. This is basically just to test the layout, ease of use, navigation etc.
Looks good Crusader, clean & proffessional. I agree that they need to upgrade their server, that advertisement detracts a bit I think. Only one thing I noticed in my brief visit, is it supposed to be "jakkals proof fencing" or should it be "jakkal proof"? Maybe it's just a term I'm unfamiliar with.
BTW, may I ask how you got this job (ie where did they hear about you)? Was it from your own site or another form of advertising? Just interested as I may be looking at doing something similar in the not too distant future.
Thanks Samatar. The host were it's currently placed is basically just a free host I use to prototype the site. You might be right about the "jakkals proof fencing". I still need to check the content I was focussing on getting the layout and coding done.
As far as where they heard about me. It was through word of mouth, but I'm currently working on gettin a site up offering web design. Just haven't had time to do it though.
Two technical items: The lines are jumping up and down, if I move the mouse over them (rather irritating). And when I'm scolling with the mouse wheel, the underlining disappears, as soon as I stop scolling, it reappears.
But I'm using Mozilla, maybe that is the reason?
All the text lines. Okay, jumping is maybe a little to much, but they are moving, or the distance between the lines is changing. Sorry, I'm not familiar with html, so I cannot tell you exactly what and why...
It seems to be changing the bottom padding for everything that you hover over. You really should preview your pages in something over than IE since IE's CSS support is pretty crappy.
Ah, thanks for that Caedes. I'm busy downloading Netscape, but it takes quite a while on dail-up. I mainly test in IE, because that's the most popular browser... but in any case.
Thanks again. The problem should be sorted out now - I hope!
