axe to grind? ears to chew? whatever? I'll be in the caedes IRC chatroom until the booze runs out or my latest movie downloads - whichever comes sooner. yes - its high time we ressurected this long lost asset of the site. see you in there. maybe.

Clicking on the Java IRC Client ... hung for a bit, but it did connect. You will get a prompt as to whether or not you want to run the applet. Have to ensure that you do have the latest version, which is:
Java(TM) Platform, Standard Edition
Runtime Environment
Version 6 (1.6.0.70)
Go to 'Add or Remove Programs' and you can verify that way.
Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs.
And then look in the list that comes up, click on ... "Click here for support information" as a further step.
Couldn't launch the HTML IRC Client however. Simply resulted in 'Web page not found'.
Don't know how helpful this information might be, however ... this is the 'preamble' to connecting. (Which does take a bit of time. So, anyone on dialup might encounter some problems.)
- This server will check your PC for open proxy
- servers when you connect. If you do not want this
- test performed on your system disconnect now.
End of /MOTD command.
And then a list of 'help' online chat rooms can be found at the bottom of this page:

Clicking on the icon (or hovering your cursor over the icon) on one of the rooms posted, wherein "Online Chat" comes up ... you are then presented with a choice of the two clients on this page here:
