I heard it earlier this morning of Paul's passing ... he truly was a legend on screen as well as off screen. My favotite film would have to be "The Sting" closely followed by "Cool Hand Luke".
I'd agree.. sort of. The Sting would be my favorite overall, but strictly in terms of character portrayed, I'd go with "Luke".
And yes, he indeed will be missed. I buy his food products all the time. Yes, they taste great, but 100% of the proceeds go to charity. Gotta love that guy.

And I love his food products as well. A beautiful man with a beautiful heart.
"Cool Hand Luke" was my fav.
Although, you could add "The Colour of Money" to that list as well. I thought he played that part phenomenally well and appropriately understated across from Tom Cruise.
I knew he was sick so it isn't entirely unexpected... but GD, I'm gonna miss him! His acting, his politics, his humor, his good works... his balsamic vinaigrette... everything.
Think my favorite of his films was "The Verdict", but what the hey, they were all fantastic!
A sad day indeed for many due to his huge contributions to society in so many ways.
Loved the movies, love the balsamic vinaigrette, and his capacity for giving....well, it is unparalled.(IMO)
What a great loss to not only the film industry but also to the society.. he was definately a legend.. loved all his movies.. his memories will keep on living on the screens and on our dinners..
It appears that he is the last of the 'good ol' movie stars, as they were for so long. We're real fortunate to always be able to watch his movies and buy those delicious foods. He was a smart man, a good husband, an outstanding actor, evidently he loves good foods, so he will be missed that's for sure. But he will never be forgotten. V
For me, Newman was anti-Hollywood. He had a strong marriage that lasted 50ish years, he was a true philanthropist, he lived life fully and without apology. He was a fantastic actor, ballsy race car driver, and genuine human. I don't usually mourn a Hollywood passing, but I was saddened to hear of his.
I remember an interview he did when he was making Cars, and he said he was going to slow down in Hollywood, so that he could devote more time to his family and his charitable activities. So-called Hollywood "icons" should take notice of what it really means to be a star. Paul Newman was a STAR--not because of his movie roles, but because of how he lived life fully and gave fully. I am sure that his star will continue to shine, because his work touched so many.
The sad news can be seen here.
