I have a Fuji Finepix s700 (point and shoot with some manual options) 46 mm threaded lenes. I can't find any special lenes to thread on the end of it...but I was wondering what type of external equipment would help in taking snow images....For example...filters and what kind.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated...considering Santa is around the corner.

Paul

Paul - Going out in the Cold to take pictures of snow creates no real need for filters and stuff just because its snowy. But there are some filters that would help in creating or eliminating an effect. Some that come to mind would be a POLARIZER to boost the blue in the sky and eliminate any surface reflections in the snow. How about a 81A filter to reduce the blue color cast caused by CLEAR SKY reflecting on the snow. If you have really sunny days and have deep money pockets, you could also buy a Nuteral Density filter to knock down general reflected light. The best overall thing you can do costs absolutely nothing. Thats right...nothing! White balancing your camera is the best trick when shooting in snow. Always bring fresh batteries and maybe even finding a patch of clean white snow, and set your exposure to 1.5 - 2 stops over your settings, because your camera will adjust to make snow a mid tone, you want it to expose as white without its blowing out. Does Santa bring filters, or does he bring socks?

While trying to create good pictures, I feel as if I am standing on the edge of Insanity. There is a door. I found myself knocking on the door. The door opened.. . . I was knocking from the inside. Oh Rats!
