another one from a dummy.......i'm pretty much sure that i have no idea about what i do in photoshop and how it looks when i upload. i've done everything in sRGB (or the one with all the numbers after it.) Every time i look at one of my uploads it looks dark and gloomy (on all 3 monitors). i just can't get it right. is there one of you who is sure that your monitor is right on. if so, maybe i could ask you to help me out occasionally. i could adjust my monitor (by recalibrating) but i'd have no clue as to what you're seeing. i am so tired of uploading, deleting, re uploading. grrrrrrrrrrrr

me again. when i work on the photograph in photograph i'm quite satisfied with the way it looks (on those monitors which i mentioned above). i cringe every time i look at the same shot uploaded to the site. maybe one of you could look at you calibrated profile and tell me what the numbers should be.

What kind of monitor do you use? you could try to change the settings of your monitor and also install the drivers.

i use either the screen on my mac (mac book pro and Mac g4 powerbook) or the apple cinema display. i just don't have any idea of what to do or where to set the numbers.

Jen ... you might want to try this Monitor Calibration Tool. I found it on another thread sometime ago. I always use this one to recalibrate my LCD monitor every 4 - 6 weeks.

Mouse over the other colors (black, gray, white, red, etc) to see how other dominant colors affect the perception of color. Always remember contrast affects brightness, but brightness doesn't effect contrast.

On my LCD monitor ...

Contrast is set between 70 and 75

Brightness is set between 45 - 50

Hope this helps & I'll try to find the old thread on Monitor Calibration.
