i've had my website for well over a year now, and haven't put anything of value there, mainly because of time and other issues, so i'm starting to think of ways to make good use of it. my questions is.. those of us who use certain design programs for work/play/publication use, have any use for a site providing free templates to many current design programs?.. my frustrations with my companies clients submitting artwork the wrong size, the wrong layout, and even just flawwed designs, has made me seriously consider just providing free templates. illustrator artboards, photoshop templates, even quark, indesign, pagemaker, and anything else i can think of. hell.. i'll even make word templates.
how much use do you think something like that would get?
and if it would work, how about page/tempalate sizes? perhaps business card, envelope, tabloid/signature/broadsheet, custom sizes, post cards.. any ideas?
I think average joe computer users who want professional results without knowledge or effort would eat that up. I think they are the majority btw, and you idea addresses the masses :p. Just create everything you can think of and keep in mind not too overdo or add too much detail, most users have a hard time adjusting complex templates to fit their needs. Just try and keep everything as flexible and neutral as possible, no?
Sounds like a lot of work to be given away for free. Perhaps you could sell your work on the site and provide some free samples to draw customers to your site;-)
naw, egos will take effect, and no one will bother downloading them
its not too much work to just do it for free, if i were to make money doing it, i'd make custom templates
