FYI, slow jpeg downloads

I've always been impressed with how fast the jpegs load from Caedes.net Seems like you have fast servers, plenty of bandwidth and tight code on the site. However, FYI, tonight in here in Akron, Ohio USA, jpeg downloads have been slow to stalled completely. Navigation to galleries and all other funtctions seem to be happening at Caedes normal rapid pace, but I have repeatedly stalled out getting 800x600 or larger images to load. Don't think the bottleneck is on my end, as I tried loading some other large graphics files from the internet in another browser window, and they were quite fast. I did notice my pic download screens mentioned the source page as "caedes.net.nyud.net" which I don't recall seeing before. Mike

I'm just testing a cache system called Coral. It is designed to save bandwidth. The speeds have been great on my end, but it is geographically dependant. Thanks for the info, I'll be returning the site to normal opperation in a few hours.

Fine on nycap roadrunner (Albany, NY). It does take a second to start, but then is quite quick.

(Ok, on one more test I got it to stall. A retry was blazing fast, though).

I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way - things I had no words for. Georgia O'Keeffe

FYI the test is over and downloads are now coming directly from caedes.net once again.

Downloads back to normal speed here in Akron Thursday night, even at 1600x1200.
