[edit] [complain] [message] I really have enjoyed browsing through the marvelous collections of images. I am not a professional photographer, or even a novice one. But wouldn't mind learning. I am a semi-retired, Interior Designer doing free-lance, and consulting work. I have become fascinated with the gallery: "Computer/Landscapes", and similar items. I'd really like to know just how these images are achieved. I know, on a computer, right? But what type of computer? What type of programs? Are there any Tutorals available? Is anyone out there willing to train how to do this? I am not interested in doing it for profit. Simply for my own pleasure, as a hobby. If I'm sucsessful in learning how to do this, I have no intention to 'register', or 'trademark' anything. If I were to create anything worth submitting, it would be for everyone to use, as they please, no questions asked. Does anyone out there have any answers for me? Thanks, Rob

Hi Rob;

I have not worked with any 3D landscape programs, but I will provide you with some links, where you may be able to get more information on what you are seeking.

Here on Caedes, there is a listing of popular programs that artists are currently using. Any 3D modeling or 3D terrains or landscaping programs would probably be what you are looking for. Be sure to click on the link at the bottom "other software" for an extended listing.

Suggested Software

Here is also a listing of the most popular programs that I have heard of;

Vue

Bryce

Terragen

Cinema 4D

3ds Max

I would also suggest that while perusing the Computer/Landscape galleries, that when you come across an image that you would like to learn more about, that you send the member a personal message, to inquire what program they have used to create it.

By doing an online search for "tutorials", and any one of the program's names listed above, you will find a wealth of information at your disposal.

I should also mention that most of the software I have referenced, are programs that you have to buy, with most providing a free trial before purchase. I know that there are some free programs, but none come to mind at this time. My online search for "Free 3D terrain software", resulted in several sources. This is just one of them Planit 3D

Hope this information is useful to you, and that you enjoy your time at Caedes! Welcome :)
