We seem to be seeing a lot of "repeat uploads" recently; that is, members uploading images that are identical to, or with only slight changes from, an image that they have already uploaded previously. It is not acceptable for members to upload an image again just because they feel it didn't get the attention it deserved, didn't get a high enough vote, or that it was so good that everyone needed a second (or third) look at it... imagine if every member did that.

As per the COC: "Once an image has been uploaded to the site it should not be uploaded again unless substantial changes have been made to it. These changes should be enough so that it could be reasonable assumed that the resulting changed image would receive a better critique than the previous version."

Also: think carefully before you voluntarily delete your own image from the site. The fact that you have deleted an image does not grant you immunity from this rule. We have seen in the past members who would simply delete their image once it had it's run in the new images gallery and then upload it again, sometimes three or four times, so tolerance for this sort of behavior is zero.

Perhaps this could be extended to similar shots of the same subject?

I didn't realize this was that big of a problem.

Trying to nip it in the bud...

Part of the problem is members getting upset when their images are removed... hopefully if they read this that might head off that problem as well.
