The prompt for this topic states:
"Desktop Wallpaper, Art, etc.
Feel free to talk about practically anything related to art and caedes.net. Consult the FAQs."
That has yet to work it seems, so perhaps it should say something like: Consult the FAQs here, then post here if you have any question not presented there, or just want to talk about anything related to art or caedes.net.
Maybe not those words, but perhaps reading the FAQ first should be emphasized.
side note: there also is no general introduction to the site on the main page. it may or may not matter considering the simple layout of the site, but ya never know
Well, as usual I agree with both your ideas. I haven't really noticed a huge problem with FAQs showing up on the discussion board though. Usually I get those in the form of PMs. =) The site intro is a very good idea. I know that when I get to a new website the first thing I try to do is to figure out exact what the site is all about. I just had a look at the main homepage and to tell you the truth it wasn't as clear as it should probably be. Any specific ideas?
Hmm, a quick description of purpose "This is an artistic community..Free wallpaper..rate others art get your own rated.. etc" and a quick description on the important aspects of navigating the site. "Main galleries on the left, new images section is for new admissions to be considered for permanent use, read the faq for most common questions, etc etc" If you feel like jabbering you could state the origins of the site. Its really up to you, the main description is what guides the new users, by creating a description you can control where your new users are turned to first, how they will make use of the site, etc. You could even state that this site is not meant as a personal photo sharing gallery to go with your new snapshot policy, that way they know ahead of time :-p
