Just had a thought today; when an image comes up in ones "Jobs" list for promotions, perhaps any recent images by that same artist that have already been promoted could be displayed beside it; or just a link which reads, "Recent promoted images by this artist". That way everyone would have a quick reference to make sure that similar images hadn't already been promoted.
We would still need mods to 'prune', as sometimes the less good versions are permed first. Perhaps such a feature would make life easier for the mods, if they could see all the permed images by one person?
I too feel that some "pruning" needs to take place. When I look at the "main" gallery, there are times when I get to see every step a photographer took on his/her outing. All of the pictures are great. But, one would be enough for the main gallery.
Sam, I must admit that I am one of those who gets upset when one of my images is removed. But, I get over it and re-evaluate the picture. Most of the time I agree that the removed picture did not belong and usually for the simple reason I would not have voted for its inclusion either.
I would love for everything I post be included but I would prefer that what does get in is unique, is of quality, and is interesting.
As I stated a while back regarding another issue, there's occasionally a vast difference between knowing and caring. Surely a certain percentage of people who nominate images of a given member on a regular basis have an idea of which images of that member are already in the Main gallery.
I noticed one of my photos was promoted in a mater of days. That is much faster than need be. If the time an image is assigned to the new images gallery were a set period the mods would have more opportunity to review promoted images without getting any feathers ruffled. A Main Gallery buffer if you will. This way we could count on a steady flow of well chosen, non-duplicative quality images in the Main Gallery. Artists would receive a Positive notice with no disappointments due to changes after the fact. Less pressure and less friction all around?
People aren't going to remember the things you do. They're going to remember how you made people feel. Be kind, gracious, and appreciative.
