Image glitches

Following Mimi's advice below is a copy of what I posted in This Thread which really needs to be read to get the whole gist of it.

THIS SCREENSHOT is all I see on the Riversight image page. Have used 4 different browsers and two computers over the last 8 days and still the same.

When I try to download the image by Dunstickin that Richie referred to above - Low Force THIS is what I see, and it never changes.
Something wonky somewhere !!

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Make sure you clear your cache and try a different browser.

All I can say is that I have no trouble viewing either image.

As mentioned I tried 4 browsers on 2 machines - Maxthon, Firefox, IE and Opera.Cache cleared for each one (I don't save history) and I use CCleaner regularly.
24 hours ago the above was correct - unable to see the first image. Was also not showing on my phone using Safari or Puffin Browser.

NOW I see Corngrowth's Riversight using my laptop, and can see it on my phone as well. Will check PC later.
Very odd, gremlin power must be to blame :)

However, I still can not view Dunstickin's Low Force full screen.
Samatar, did you try to download the full size image ?

I have no problem seeing it on the image page - could always see that but it will not download. I just see the same progress bar with the broken picture icon over it.

I tried right clicking Dunstickin's Low Force and selecting to open in a new tab and this is what I got in Opera

Maxthon givers a similar result and tells me I am viewing an .xml file.

Can't view that image full size. I'd say it's corrupted.

Dear Lyn: Based on the links you have provided, it is quite evident that you are very component and computer savy. In order to work out this problem, if you have not already done so. Please shut off your virus protection for 10 minutes while trying to download the pic. If there is no change, may I suggest you download Marwarebytes Anti-Malware. Usually a free download, and let it run. I will check back to see if your have found a solution.

ear Lyn; XML Does Not DO Anything

Maybe it is a little hard to understand, but XML does not DO anything. XML was created to structure, store, and transport information.

The following example is a note to Tove, from Jani, stored as XML:

Tove
Jani
Reminder
Don't forget me this weekend!

The note above is quite self descriptive. It has sender and receiver information, it also has a heading and a message body.

But still, this XML document does not DO anything. It is just information wrapped in tags. Someone must write a piece of software to send, receive or display it.
You would need to open an XML file in photoshop if you were able to download it.

XML is Not a Replacement for HTML

XML is a complement to HTML.

It is important to understand that XML is not a replacement for HTML. In most web applications, XML is used to transport data, while HTML is used to format and display the data.

My best description of XML is this:

XML is a software- and hardware-independent tool for carrying information.

Dear Lyn: just a thought, it is possible, your browser is not configured to download a XML file. Changing the browser settings, might work but I doubt it. You would also have to change the settings in your host and virus protection programs to download this type of file successfully. The you would have to open it in Excel to view it correctly if photoshop is not configured to view it. I hope this helps.

Thanks for your suggestions Jerry - that particular image was/is the only one I can not view. It was suggested by a Samatar earlier that it could have been a corrupted image as he could not view it full size either.

I use Malwarebytes once a week, and CCleaner every day or so :)
