An idea to make voting and commenting a submit once deal.

A thought that might save time for people. I like to comment and vote on images that catch my eye enough to view fullsize. Why not have the voting be a series of radio buttons connected to the comment field? That way, we can comment, vote, and click submit just once - rather than the two step process we now go through. Those who want to vote, but not comment, can just click and submit. Those who wish to comment without voting can comment and submit. Works any of the three ways.

Good call. I presented a similar idea a while ago. You did elaborate more to the point but it's basically just what I had in mind. Maybe they will listen to you? ;)

Sound like a great idea, if it wouldn't mean a ton of work for Caedes. Dwight.

I agree - I don't want to impose too much on Caedes' time. I may be wrong, but it seems to me this would be a minor cosmetic fix.

Knowing Caedes coding skills, I would say this is not too difficult. A one step process sounds good to me.

Yes I _could_ do it, however it will become a moot point once the new voting system is implemented.

I think your idea is a great one, Nathan, but it sounds like there's a new voting system already in the works. I don't always vote on images I comment on and the change you suggest would make doing both on my part more likely. And then there's DOWNLOADING images. I love a lot of images here but couldn't possibly download all those that I like. I just don't have the space for them all, nor would they be put to good use. Yet I don't want people to lose points if I don't download....???

I would say there's a moral imperative to vote on every image you comment on. Voting takes no time at all.

As for 'downloading', that just means you view it full-size (which in my opinion you have to do in order to appreciate it) - so it downloads to your browser cache. If you don't view full-size you will adversely affect that person's c-index.

I agree. That's why a one step process would make this easier. I don't download every image I view fullsize, and I only vote on those I have viewed fullsize.

Awwwwwwwwwww, thanks for clarifying what "DOWNLOADING" means, Matthew! Here I thought I had to download it to my harddrive in order for it to register. LOL! And, yes, I agree one should vote if they comment. I just don't always remember to do so. I'm now getting in the habit of voting BEFORE I comment and that works pretty good.

That's cool. I'm sure everyone will appreciate it.

The only reason I have been able to come up with for commenting without voting is selfish promotion. That may work for a while until others become well aware of those user's antics. Commenting takes alot more time than voting so that added vote time excuse is a nada in my book regardless of how the site is set up. I'm certain that whatever new voting system is implemented will improve things as all changes here have, but I also think it will still come down to a reasonable expectation level that users be responsible, considerate, honest, and co-operative.

It's a good idea but it isn't that big of a deal. Download, comment, then vote is my personal method for most images. Voting last means more time to look at the image. I'm curious about the new voting system that's in the making though?

I would like to thank all the people that cringe when they think of me. I ment well.

I agree with if you comment then you vote and I like the one step idea
