A dozen other people have probably had this idea too...but aw well, I'm sorry if I'm repeating someone! Anyways...how bout if when someone comments on one of your photos...instead of just saying "thanks" in their little personal section...why doesn't everyone say thanks by commenting on a photo that they like in their gallery?! (I don't know if anyone has noticed...but if you comment on one of my photos I usually try to say thanks by commenting on one of your photos, or by saying thanks like normal AND commenting on a photo.) There doesn't have to be a rule about it or anything, and no one needs to do it all the time....but I think if people generally said thanks by commenting on a photo, it would increase the feedback everyone gets! And it would encourage people to comment on new images because then they would get more feedback in return...

Just an idea. =)

I think that is a great idea Laurel. I often check out the galleries of folks who comment on my pictures if I am not familiar with them but I still am in the habit of leaving my thanks in their profiles. There have been thorough discussions on this site about the fact that user profiles were never meant to be a giant list of thank-you's but a better alternative was never developed.

Paying a comment back with a comment is a very nice thought (although if everyone always did this than the originator of a comment and the receiver of the original comment would end up going back and forth until they had commented on every picture the other had in his/her gallery. Actually I guess the person with the smaller gallery would end up getting their final thank-you in their profile after-all and may not finish commenting on the other person's gallery hehe). I don't see this happening to that extreme but even if it did I don't think it would be a bad thing. I think making a habit of this would inspire a lot more feedback than people get currently.

Wrapping a thank-you into a comment on another image is an easy enough task, and what better way to say thank-you than by offering up your own input. I'll try to keep it in mind from now on~

Yeah, I like your idea too, but I think you're probably going to get a list here of all the folks who do this already. I actually discovered several artists work by tracing back a comment someone made.
