The best way to find out if you have any talent is to post a few photos and see what people say about them. Whatever you do, don’t buy a Dimage. They are good cameras but I’m sure I read that they just went out of business.
yes - Konica Minolta have announced they are completely pulling out of the camera market in phases over the next 12 months. although this may lead to some bargains to be had as retailers clear their stock.
hi its just a few odd photos i got around, i dont think there good, but just some help etc and tips would be great:)
if you go to this link: http://photobucket.com/albums/c204/tisch2/Photography/
there all on there.
thanks everyone
I would have to agree with most of the other guys here. The best way to learn is to post images here. Although I'm no pro at photography the help here you get is more than expected. You should post your images even if you dont think their that good because over time you will improve. I learned this myself after getting comments and tips from various members. And for cameras my only advice it try and go digital. I'v got a film and its a huge hassle just getting the film on the computer. Good Luck.
I had a quick look at your pix. They aren’t brilliant but they aren’t a disaster either. They can be improved with an image editor quite quickly. PhotoFiltre is a competent one that’s totally free for non-commercial use (http://www.photofiltre.com/). I also suggest you vary your subject material.
Get PhotoFiltre, edit FlipFlap and post it on this site. I bet you get more advice than you can poke a stick at:-)
hehe thanks,
i have spotted a woodpecker, he comes down out side our yard gate and has a wash in the podle, so going to be out all day soon. have you any tips on geting bird shots?
&trisbert - thanks, i am just off to look at that site, dose it do more than paint shop pro?
I work camera retail, so ask as many questions as you like. The Dimage series are known for their "superzoom" abilities and their easy-yet-extensive menus, but the entire line seems to have focusing issues. Right off the bat, the focus slower, seek more, and produce frequent fuzzy images. Also, I have a friend who owned one of their cameras for about a year, and the focusing system just broke down entirely.
Canon and Nikon are the big guns in the industry, so you can't go wrong with either. Both have good optics, reliable electronics, and are likely to work a long time. Casio is up and coming, and they are known for lots of flashy features, but they just haven't been making lenses long enough. Sony is definitly an electronics name, but they are cumbersome to work with (memory card issues and so on). Kodak and Fuji both will work fine and produce vibrant images, but they are pretty limited in features (a.k.a. not much room for growing in your abilities).
I do kinda agree with Robert...varying your subjects would be a good idea. It is a website policy to restrict your uploads to backgrounds and art rather then pictures kept solely for personal value (i.e. grandma's vast collection of grandkid shots), and I find it best to subject myself by not taking pictures of people or animals that I am familiar with. Starter advice would be to take lots of pictures and try to shoot from uncommon angles (close to the ground or from high up). If you ever want a comment on an image, just send me a Personal Message and I will be happy to oblige. :-)
I owned a Panasonic Lumix, and it has the best lens I have ever used. It has the ability to accept a lens hood and ordinary (or extraordinary)
screw-on filters. The Leica lens is the equivalent of a 35mm to 420mm zoom lens that allows wide apertures throughout the full zoom. You will come to appreciate this when you try to buy the equivalent lense for a DSLR camera. You will see prices like $1000. The low prices ($430 for the 8.2Mpx Lumix FZ30) are scandalously low compared the outrageous prices you see for other cameras. It is durable, and packed with features. The only drawback to this camera is its LCD viewfinder (as opposed to an optical one) which can in low-light situations be difficult to focus when in manual focus mode (which it allows by the way).
