How do I resize a picture to 1600 x 1200 in Photoshop without "squishing" it horizontally? Sorry for the technical jargon :-) I'm clicking on Image>Image Size and then entering 1600 for W and 1200 for H. But when I do this it squishes it, presumably because the new proportions are different from the original proportions. If I tick the Constrain Proportions box, then it resizes it down, but it's 1600 x 1067, which I don't think is the right size for uploading, right?
Well .. create a NEW document @ 1600x1200 .. do as you said by unclicking the constrain proportions .. so you get 16x10 .. then drag it over to your "black-filled" new doc .. position as desired
if you're using CS2 then you'll see little pink guide lines show up when you hit the edges
