I've been having some really frustrating problems with this new version. I don't have any problems until I render. For some reason, although my settings indicate the background is black, it renders everything I do in a white background? Also, my flames are way off center, sometimes only 10% are actually in the final render, the rest is white screen. I've never had problems like this in the orginal Aphophysis, I'll just zoom in and render, and the result is exactly what I wanted. I hope I am being as clear as I can with these problems. If anyone knows why this is happening or if I am doing something wrong, could you please let me know! I have some great flames I'd like to render, but can't because they just will not turn out. Help!!
Are you rendering to a PNG output and the background is transparent? ... there used to be three options for PNG output but they seem to have dropped that for this version
change your output to JPG by clicking on the folder icon on the render window and 'dial' in JPG in the drop menu .. and .. go to the "general" tab of the options to set JPG quality to 100
some image viewers (irfanview, for example) will display your render with the color you expected .. if it's the PNG problem described above
RE: offcenter .. you ARE using the X and Y controls of the "adjust" window? (F5) .. usually putting ZERO in these will center, there are exceptions to this .. so position where you want by adjusting these sliders
Sorry if these are silly questions but I have to ask them
Thanks Keith. Okay, so that fixed the background problem. About centering, I realize that. I am just used to my render looking exactly what it looks like in the main window. However, half the time the flames are way off to the side, even though they are not in the main window. Does this make sense?
yes .. open a flame that has this problem .. go to the adjust window and take a look at the X+Y numbers (copy them to a text file if they are important .. ie = long) .. then re-adjust the sliders just to re-assert your dominance as the sentient being .. this is just a check to see if, maybe, you had no problem with how it looked and never adjusted them on your own ..
and .. always do test renders .. 640x480 @ 200 quality .. takes 30 seconds and can show you the qualities of a flame you aren't sure of, collect different gradient samples when you aren't sure of the color you want ... and show problems, such as you are describing
also .. check the size of your main preview window .. go to the "image size" tab of the adjust window and set a size like 640x480 .. it SHOULD be a 4:3 ratio so that you are seeing how it will look on final approach .. remember messing with the "randoms" column on the side of the main window will alter the size
(I have a 17 inch monitor running at 1280x1024 and I use 640x480 for the main window)
actually I have the same kind of problem... the flame in the apop window looks centred and has a gap at the top and bottom, but when I render it, it cuts off the top and bottom part of the flame.. I've been resizing the flame to look smaller on the screen by using the adjustment icon and clicking on the camera tab.. so when it comes out its perfectly centred... (does that make sense?)
Ok, I tried doing different stuff in the Adjust window...
I made the rotation 0 and when I quickly rendered it, it came out exactly as shown in apophysis...
Since I didn't want my image at 0 rotation I rendered it at 600x800 (not 800x600) so it became a vertical...I rotated the image in Photofiltre and got it to look the way I wanted.
Okay, did a couple of test renders. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. I guess that explains the 'Beta' part. I already have been messing with the 'Adjust' tab. I'll just keep playing with it and see what happens.
