I chose to add "hidden treasures" .. I added it for the last contest but it was removed somehow for whatever reason just two days after I added it. Hopefully it stays this time, and hopefully it gets some votes ;)
There are few situations in life that cannot be honourably settled, and without any loss of time, either by suicide, a bag of gold, or by thrusting a despised antagonist over the edge of a precipice on a dark night.

Well I'm glad to see we are coming up with some interesting and different themes this time...Hidden Treasures could be interesting and seems to have a commanding lead at the moment, but some of the others such as Light on White, Dutch Angle, Novel Idea and Emotional Longing are also very good and worthwhile pursuing...if not this time around, hopefully the next time or two. We all get more creative and come up with more original images when the topic is something out of the ordinary...and that's a good thing for all of us.
If I was a photographer I think I'd vote for the Dutch Angle one because it looks great, very Noirish. As I'm not, I think I'll vote for the Light on White. Because, it's actually harder than you'd you think.
"it's actually harder than you'd you think." Like on the eyes... LOL! I'm not knocking the subject or the idea, and I have lots of pale wallpapers, but I find dark (or at least coloured) backgrounds reduce the glare of a monitor. I voted for Light on White anyway.
I personally can't decide...many of these topics seem interesting and different. I still have three more days to think about it :) and if I can't make up my mind I'll just go along with the flow! :D
The reason why the sunsets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
Think about the photo before and after, never during. The secret is to take your time. You mustn't go too fast. The subject must forget about you. Then, however, you must be very quick.

I'm going to go with hidden treasures as well. Now if I can only find a way to get some of my black and white film scanned so that it will show the detail, I will be a happy camper. Yes, I'm still a "film" as opposed to digital addict!!
Why is it that I am allowed to vote for a topic, but since these contests began a long tme ago, I have never been allowed to vote for the winners even though I vote as an Art Council member? Seems rather strange to me.
Cindy I believe the 'voting corps' for these contests consistents of the mods and those people who won or placed in the previous one or two contests. Or something like that.
Being a bit of an emo the emotional longing topics looks cool, but then again, "hidden treasures" does seem like it might invite imagination without providing unhelpful limits. Let's face it, if someone posts a bog standard magnificent landscape, regardless of how you spin it, that won't be a hidden treasure. So, my point, is it will require some thought, some selection, some filtering, but exactly WHAT the outcome of that process will be is wildly open. I like it.
@ Mythmaker, those were my thoughts exactly when I came up with the topic "Hidden Treasures". I really didn't have one specific idea in mind, mostly because it's a topic that to me, brings about an infinite amount of thought/ideas. I'm really excited to see what people come up with for this topic. (given the hope that it stays in the lead for 17 more hours ;) haha)
