Constance52347: Congrats on first place win!
trixxie17: They appear to be pansy orchids - the black area comparing to the "face" on a pansy. The botanical name is miltoniopsis. This is lovely.
trixxie17: Congrats on the first place win in the contest - these are some of the most unusual pansy orchids I've seen.

jerseygurl: Congrats on taking 2nd place in the contest Kathy - Well Deserved!!!!
luckyshot: Kathy - I saw a plant like this last year and had no clue of its name. Unusual as it is, it is one to remember. Excellent photo!
Constance52347: Congrats on second place win!

LynEve: It is indeed a strange looking plant that rather lives up to it's name if it smells nasty. The purple 'petal' looks quite velvety.
Good find and super entry for the contest.
luckyshot: Tanju - If I recall, this flower produces a strong odor that is, well, vulgar. From this photo, it is quite a beautiful large bloom.
Eubeen: I wouldn't mind having a cutting from this strange plant so I could grow one myself. Wonderful colours and a great creative image, Eugene. Best of luck in the contest.
Lightpainter: Strange plant alright. Looks like the vegetation on another planet.
elektronist: A very different kind of palm tree ;)
Constance52347: Congrats on placing! Great photo.
Nikoneer: Looks like it ate a frog. You sure it's not one of those carnivorous plants?

Constance52347: It looks like it has arms! Very strange, indeed!
