2nd place
Castle by gr8fulted

corngrowth: Congrats Ted, for your 2nd place in the 'C is for . . .' contest.
Very well deserved!

LynEve: Congratulations of you placement in the contest - it is a splendid photo

corngrowth: Ted,

Thanks for both a wonderful capture (S+F instantly) and an interesting narrative and additional comment with a link.
I like to provide you and the Caedes friends with some additional information as well:
In the Rheinland-Palatinate community Trechtingshausen,Germany there are two castles: the castle Rheichenstein (aka Falkenburg) and the castle Rheinstein (aka Voitsberg or Vaitzburg).

About Reichenstein: this castle is situated on a promontory on the eastern slope of the Binger forest. Today, the complex houses a castle museum with a large collection of historic weapons and armor, and since the end of 2015 a hotel and restaurant. In the castle, the living spaces are still preserved as they were over a hundred years ago. In the castle chapel and the old premises weddings can still take place today.

About Rheinstein: this castle is situated in the upper Middle Rhine Valley. It received its present name after completion of its reconstruction in 1829. The castle has been restored (in more than 30 years) to its original condition. It is privately owned, but is accessible for a fee at regular opening hours. Particularly worth seeing are the largely reconstructed architectural paintings and the restored glass windows from the 14th to the 17th century. The Burgundy Garden is today part of the route of the World Heritage Gardens. At the castle there's a catering business. A tower apartment and a holiday apartment in the castle can be rented. For civil and ecclesiastical weddings the gardens and historic rooms are available as well.
