1st place
shadowed sand dune by solita17

Jimbobedsel: Beautiful sunlight and shadows, and it almost looks like snow drifts there. Good luck in the contest, Mary.

braces: Fabulous light and fabulous textures a very well deserved winner.

sharonva: Over the years I've seen a LOT of pictures of sand drifts (none of them mine)...and I've never seen anything that is quite unusual, and yet there is no question about what it is. This one is a keeper.

2nd place
A Morrocan in Marrakesh by RAPH

Vickid: This is a stunning shot, the effect of the shadow on this photo is dramatic and the colors add to the beauty of this image. I consider this a favorite, compliment to Raphael for knowing this would make a tremendous capture.

In the shadows by coram9

LynEve: Congratulations on your placement in the contest - a most worthy entry.

casechaser: Congrats on your win Chris.

solita17: Wait... how did I miss this one? The 'shrooms seem to be glowing from within, surrounded as they are by all that negative space with just the merest hint of background around them... Well done!

5th place
On a winters night by fionbharr2000

tigger3: Holly, this is outstanding!! What else can I say but that it is now in my faves. Love It!Tigs♥ =^..^=

tigger3: I was thrilled to see that you placed in the contest, this was so darn good.

za4em9: Wonderfully magical. Photographs with moon are usually very difficult to do - so I commend you on that; also, the snow sparkling at the bottom and the stars at the top are setting my soul on fire - I absolutely love it. The shadows from the tree create an excellent sense of balance to the tree itself; and finally, the colors - perfect, I get a feel of civilization near, but not too near. Thank you so much for posting this.
