Nice timing, although with a much faster shutter speed (1/500 or 1/1000) you could have captured the motion in still a bit better. Also your son is a bit dark in the photo. I like the composition of the boats ripple and the subject. Also an auto-level fix in photoshop might fix this image up a bit.

Great action shot, Carolyn, and of a sport not often seen at least on this site! Everything is nicely frozen, even the spray. BTW; thanks for touring my gallery recently. It's a long time since I looked at 'night guard' myself; it was an early post. Thanks & Cheers! - Dave

If my comment on your work ever seems to criticise, it does not. It is always so that we may learn together.
Hi there Carolyn! What a super stop-action photo you captured of a neat looking sport! I don't swim, so I envy those who do :). The story of the water and the wake form the boat look awesome. You did a great job here. Your son is in the shadow.....but I find it rather intriguing because then the person can be whoever...sort of mysterious :)
Thanks also for the kind words you left in my gallery on ~miss lili was playing with the light on this blossom and trying to catch the sun's rays just right to show off the beautiful petals of this bloom. I am glad that you enjoyed it with me. Thank you for your continued support! :~)
this is great timing. im with mimi about the shadow, it makes it possible to imagine some one. plus for me it adds drama and action to the shot. great work! ~abby
The viewer definitely gets the sense of concentration from your son, the boarder, as he looks to where he is going to land. Hmm ... now you have peaked my curiosity ... did he make the jump?
Kidding, a little. His form adds alot to this shot.
You are probably aware of this ... but ... given my propensities (little joke there), I am wondering why the larger resolutions are not available. Hopefully, you will be able to, and there are many programs that will do so as far as resizing images goes. The FAQ section makes mention of some that are used by many artists on the site here. You can also look here.
The tow line, the lines from the wake ... all serve to bring the attention of the viewer to the star of your image ... your son. Nice work.
I like this shot of your son Carolyn. Used to do it when I was young. Most I do today is help my grandchildren build sandcastles or spend a morning fishing.
Pictures say a thousand words but the artist taking the picture can say more. Take care and god bless you and yours each and every day'
