nice mood. i like how its overexposured at teh top and the quite low saturation.
almost didn't see the aligator, but i'm not sure if it really is the subject of the picture...
Very cool shot! It has an interesting tone to it. If only it were closer...but I understand your wish to keep a distance lol. Probably wise.
Sorry it's been a while, but thanks for commenting on my latest flower photo, I really appreciate it! =)

Good heavens, where outside of Lafayette is this? I live fairly close to Lafayette and I want to be sure and avoid this critter. That's an interesting render of the scene. It's almost black and white but not quite. That's a nice swamp scene. Good post.

Great shot...
When I saw this, I associated an another picture, what prepared at 1908 in Siberia after meteor impact...
I like it, interesting indeed...
Wow! Very reptillian scene and subject! I like grayed out feeling of it all which is most fitting for a sneaky 'gator. Thank you for sharing this part of your adventures, I look forward to more.
PS.. Thanks again for viewing and commenting on my photo :o)
HI again Carolyn! What a great nature photo this is....I love the overall tone of this image....the somewhat desaturated areas and that alligator is almost camouflaged in the vegetation. I don't know how brave I would have been in a situation like this one....I think it was wise to stay away and keep your distance! Good mood setting for this killer 'gator! :~)
Thanks for the visit to ~cardinal country~. This is the first shot that I posted with my new camera. Now I am learning (or at least trying to learn) even more of the bells and whistles that it has on it. I am glad that you enjoyed the photo. At times, I can have as many as 23 cardinals at the bird feeder. We are also home to the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.! Go Cards!! Needless to say, these birds are a favorite of ours in more than one way! Your visit is deeply appreciated as are the warm words you left behind. Have a great day! :~)
Hi, thanks for the thorough review on On The Rocks, I really appreciate it. This is my favorite image you've posted. The way it's light makes it look so unusual, almost spooky. I would have 'hoofed it in the opposite direction had I seen the gator...too much discovery channel I suppose :)
Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb. - Churchill
I really like the way you tarnished this shot instead of just a B&W.
And your little friend there really adds alot of interest. Last time I was in Louisiana (Ft.Polk)was in the 60's before we were shipped off to lovely South East Asia (Nam).
Nice work, Carolyn. Thank you for sharing.
And Ms Lucy looks like she has it made..
