Carol I , Lord of Romania(1866-1881)and King of Romania(1881-1914)visited for the first time Sinaia in 1866..as he was impressed by the wild beauty of the surroundings of Sinaia, he decided to build a summer residence there..The exterior of the Peles Castle is specific to the German neo- Renaissant style as its characteristics show:the lithness of the vertical lines, the asymmetrycal volumes, the pointed roofs covering attics and the richness of the carved wood and sculptures..
