Read before you judge. I know this will not rate well, but it is what is happening in the Flint Hills of Kansas tonight, the annual burning of the prarie, which jump starts the native grasses into action, and starts the cycle of growth. The smoke from the prarie fires has filled the sky and blurred the moon. Rain is coming tomorrow, and by this time next week, what is black and lifeless from the burning will be green and full of new life. It shows us, once again, that Father Sun and Mother Earth are in charge.

I like the darkness blending into the smokiness of the Moon's orb. Lovely story also.

I am so glad you wrote about this photo. I remember times like this while growing up in South Dakota too. There is a quiet drama and a lot of strange sort of feelings that go with this.I can almost smell the whole thing. Very glad you posted this. V

...without change there is no progress and hence no growth. I like this capture and the story behind it. Thanks for sharing such a dramatic event in a starkly dark way.
