Another shot of wild mustangs that have been brought to the Flint Hills of Kansas from the western U. S. My grandfather worked on this ranch when he was a young man, and my grandmother was a 'traveling school marm' in this same area. The ranches here consist of large acerages, and she would go from ranch to ranch staying at each one for a week before moving on to the next. I heard a lot of great stories about this area when I was young, and I love it that most of these ranches are still the same as they were back then, just lots of grass and critters. Main difference now is that the wild horses have replaced the cattle. That guaranteed check from the govenment seems to be much better than speculating on the cattle market.
