CityWalk at Night. Universal Orlando, Florida.

Shooting Info:

Camera: Canon PowerShot S5 IS
Shooting Date/Time: 4/26/2008 11:12:17 PM
Shooting Mode: Manual
Tv (Shutter Speed): 10 sec.
Av (Aperture Value): 8.0
Light Metering: Evaluative
ISO: 80
Focal Length: 9.0 mm
Flash: Off
White Balance: Fluorescent H

It seems that it could be a good deal sharper. I was using a tripod and the self-timer for the shutter so that I didn't shake the camera by pressing the shutter release. Constructive Critique Welcomed

Its a cool shot. Its amazing how you captured so many of these fine colors in a night shot.It seems sharp enough to me.If you want some critique I could say that the sky has some grain in it.Perfectly understandable in a photo like this though.Because it seems sharp enough, maybe a softening of some sort would do the job.Its a terrific photo.

Great photo. I love this and thanks for the info on how you did it. I've got to go out and try this sometime. This one is going straight to Favs.

If it were any sharper I would have cut myself on it. This is a superb capture, the colors are lively and vibrant. Very well done !

Good choice of aperture. It really made some lovely starbursts. Wonderful rainbow, indeed.

Ha! I just have to laugh when I see the lovely compliments and then get a c-index of 39 :) Good thing I don't put much stock in the numbers.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments!

A beautiful shot and glad to see the c-index climbing somewhat...but as you say, best not to put too much emphasis on the c-index...it seldom makes sense...I prefer to look at the comments and number of downloads...being primarily a wallpaper site anyways, if alot of downloads occur on an image then obviously your image has alot of appeal so too heck with the c-index.

Wellll ... methinks it is part and partial because of the smaller rez sizes available. No end to the litany of biases and prejudices that raise their collective heads in the booth.

*shrugs*

I am recalling your other shots of amusement rides and the lights of ... and the white balance you used. Fluorescent to be specific.

If I may be bold here ... and it isn't as readily apparent in your image here, however ... I do think the final results end up being a tad more contrasty. Just thinking out loud here if that aspect/choice of WB is responsible for the 'lack of sharpness'? Some bleeding taking place perhaps? So ...

Experimentation might be in order. A series of shots playing around with the white balance would be my suggestion.

As always, a very nice composition. Well balanced and good placement of the subjects within the frame.

Particularly like the cross screen filtered effect of the lights.

I would prefer some more delineation though. Exposure doesn't seem to be the issue at hand.

Loads of colour, a good shot.

Can't wait till you get your DSLR. A monster I tell ya. :o)

And no slight intended against your Canon visual offerings, rest assured.
