I wish, living in the Midwest, that I could be near the outstanding scenery so many of you capture, but I'm not. Instead, you'll have to settle for images like these, which are a lot more subtle and may or may not be any good. With this new camera I can get enough detail that you can see the falling snow, if you look closely at a full-sized view. This snow has already melted. (And please: this isn't a whine . . . just a bit of envy.)

Hey Randy keep your eyes open. You don't need to live in tourest areas to find the beauty all around. I live in northern Indiana and I just stay aware. Keep on shooting....

I know exactly what you mean! I live in Virginia and our autumn foliage is gorgeous...but when we get nice skies they are obscured by trees or there is no place to park the car! Here I can see your snow falling and I think trees are at their most beautiful when they have no leaves. This is a lovely winter scene...and you have lovely similar pics in your gallery. I see you also recently posted a winter trees scene with some leftover bright leaves. If you want a change of pace, I bet you can find smaller subjects that would also convey "winter": a snowman with a bright blue cap, a snow shovel propped against a tree trunk in front of a job half-done). Maybe even a steaming cup of coffee resting on a snow-covered porch rail.... Good Shooting! I look forward to your next post. :)

Some people won't even take a photo when it is snowing ... you did, good for you! The angle you shot this is interesting. You will see lots more interesting things to take photos of no matter where you are, just keep looking, and never give up.

Randy,

Great image! By the way, it was in the low 80s today just east of San Diego - which meant I had to go to work in shorts and a t-shirt. Life's rough here I guess!

I used to live in Michigan and now I live in California. So seeing the snow in this image and the trees really reminds me of everything there! I miss it a lot! Thanks!

An excellent composition but I think it needs a highlight of some kind as a counterpoint to the gray. It adds a nice sense of cohesion when the branches go past the top border on each side like that to bracket the sky.
