This was a beautiful morning indeed. It's funny how we seem to REALLY appreciate and want to capture these images once we get a new camera. :)

I've been a member here for a little while now but I just recently bought my new camera (Canon SX100 IS) and this is the first pic that I've ever uploaded. I am totally new to all of this and would very much appreciate any feedback you could give, good AND bad. I want to learn everthing I can about taking beautiful pics and need the input :)

Thanking you all in advance.

Hi Karen, with pictures like this why has it taken you so long??? Sunsets are one of my favourite subjects, and this is a real beauty. I love the colours, and those silhouettes of the trees make a brilliant foreground to this picture.

As for advice, I can only stress how important it is to use a tripod when taking shots like this, as you are probably on a low shutter a speed (even if the camera has an auto function) Some of my early sunset shots were handheld and it shows! I would guess that you used a tripod with this, if you haven't you've done extremely well. Look forward to seeing more of your pics.

Oh thank you Paul. Actually, no I didn't use a tripod; at that time I didn't have one. I guess I was lucky it turned out so well. I don't remember the settings either as I am STILL trying to figure out what they all mean and I take so many pics I can't keep them all straight ..haha.

I have other pics of sunrises and sunsets I might post sometime soon :)

Again, thank you Paul.

Good advice from Paul there, and i agree that this is a beautiful shot. You've done very well and should be proud.

Where we have come from has absolutely no bearing upon where we are capable of going.
