Well, this one was a shot in the dark - literally! My digital camera cannot pick up anything if it is very dark, so I couldn't frame the shot using the LCD and the optical viewfinder is useless when taking micro shots. So I clicked away a bunch of times, and this is the best in the bunch. Not perfect, but still nice to look at.

Excellent capture! I agree you don't need the whole flower. My eyes are pulled to the wonderfull detail in the center of the flower. Do you use an off camera flash or what was your light source?

I used the built in flash of the camera. This is actually pure luck that it ended up as good as it has. Normally night-time pictures I take with my digital camera look pathetic. p

I love this pic. I have a cactus that produces this bloom. Late in the summer, it only blooms at night. It only looks good for a night or two. If I don't get up at night, I don't see it open. I have had it for many years, and the cactus is ugly but the bloom is wonderful! It smells like lemons! I'm so happy to see a pic of it!
