it's a nice fractal but it looks maybe a bit too busy. I quite like the top of the pic. the contrast between the light blue and the light brown is really nice it give an nice effect and a good depth to your image.the bottom though is a bit less defined. Maybe you could try to isolate the top, with border? to give more focus.

The design idea is a good one and your color choices really work. But, I think you need to decide either to make the lines part of your design and make them more defined or go for a blended look with highlights. This does have a nice sweeping line to it as if windblown.
