This image is Overexposed and out of focus. Personally, I would prefer to see a pofile of your face and maybe just show part of your face. Instead of a 3/4 view. If you have a digital camera there is an option for macro shooting I would use that to avoid the camera from auto focusing on the couch. The image is too neutral. On the other hand you were on the right track!

An image is a door to your soul, your imagination is the key that opens that door.
Everything that David said and don't use your flash. Your on camera flash will create hard shadows around your subject as you have here under your chin and behind your head.

I agree that it is overexposed, but I like the image itself. It's very clear and I think it has personality.
