While driving through SW Colorado this fall I ran into a cattle drive and had to pull over and give them passage. It was quite a site. This happens more than you might expect these days out here in Colorado. It's a wonderful place to life.

Nice capture, Peter. The low sun really gives the picture a classic John Ford look.

thanx guys. Since I was a kid I've been filled with the spirit of the old west and scenes like these always inspire me. I live near 60,000 acre Crystal River Ranch and often see real cowboys rounding up cattle in the fall, taking them to lower pasture because winters in the high country can be harsh. Also, I used a density mask to bring out the picture's detail. The original was too dark in the shadows. It's a great technique.

We can feel the movement of the horse and the rider. Excellent, Peter :-)

Cool Shot, only flaw that I can see is that annoying yellow line on the roadway.

I know what you mean about the spirit of the Old West.... This is a great photo!! I was born on a 40,000 acre cattle ranch in Arizona so that spirit run deep in me. I love to see images just like this one. Thanks for sharing it. Excellent job :)))
