As you may know the skill of the month that I'm working on at the moment is Abstract TechArt...as I call it. In the tradition of DeviantArt and DepthCore, I'm experimenting with various 2Dand 3D techniques to create "art" in a futuristic, evocative style. This image features rendered 3D objects and a several brushing techniques in Photoshop to create the escaping gas and obviously there are many many layers. I don't claim this is brilliant, but I did want to share it with you. Please give me your opinion, positive/negative and/or suggestions.

I've looked at DeviantArt and DepthCore quite a bit and I think that you've accomplished your goal. Great brushing techniques. Very nice Peter. Very nice indeed.

Thanx. From you that means a lot. So much to learn, so little time.

Agree with Tracy - theres a deceptively large amount of detail going on in here that needs some concerted observation - great colours and very well executed indeed.

Great work. You've captured that escaping gas effect beautifully, both in design and colour. The depth you've created with all those layers is also outstanding. Already looking forward to your next piece:)

Cheers...........

I really like the 3D render, the colors, and the idea, but the gas seems like it is above the image, not coming out of the object.

Actually the gas is in many layers as is the redered abstract object. There are gas layers in front of and behind and inbetween if you look more closely, you'll see. I think the whole idea of the project was to make the gas appear to be comeing from the center of the object and over some of it as it blows through the mesh. It looks that way to me, but I might have failed in my pursuit...other opinions please?

I really wish I knew how to do this, because I really like it. It has a lot of depth, and in a techie way, it certainly is abstract. I believe you fullfilled all your obligations. :-)

Some sections of the image don't look quite as crisp as I would prefer; if you hadn't done so already, I would recommend spiking all the rendering dials in whatever program you created this in. If you don't jabe the processing power, read up on remotely controlling a network cluster and borrow the CIA headquarters over Christmas. They won't mind. :-)

Wow! This looks so good, great job on making this! I have to say...I feel like I've seen this on another site...now I'm not accusing you of stealing this image but maybe your image may have been stolen...I'll send you a message on how I found this on another site. Great job on this though! 10

I doubt it would have been ripped yet. It's a very common type of "trendwhore" style image. You can see many similar versions on DepthCore and DeviantART. this one is important to me because I finally figured out how they do it. That took some experimenting, so I posted it. It is definitely home made here in Colorado.

You must learn fast! The depth is convincing as well as the inorganic materials!

Those are some of my favorite colors. A little less of the fog maybe, just personal pref.

Great image, really stands out in the gallery. How do you learn to do this stuff? It`s fantastic.

Very odd and creative. I like this style. I can't pin it down to anything i'm familiar seeing , thats what i like about it.

I beg to disagree, it is brilliant. I'm very into destruction. Build a stack of blocks and then kick them down.

Wow. OK, that's something cool that I found here. Very realistic in terms of forces and very unknown in terms of shapes. I like that.

I'm glad you guyz appreciate this. It was great fun to create. It's fairly easy but takes a lot of time and work. The secret is many layers with brushed flames and gass in between layers. The shaps are rendered in 3D on a transparent background and layered in.

"... fairly easy..."? I don't even begin to understand the explanation. Except I know about layers and transparency. Beyond that... no idea what you _do_ with them.

Probably a bit late, but the smoke seems to me to come from behind the object level with its centre and some is billowing through it, all of it aimed down.

This makes me think of dragons though not as I like to think of them (as in Pern's) but more as sinewy creatures fighting fiercely. Destroying some sort of dangerous looking bridge.

I'm not sure if I like it. I may, but I may not. I think it is very good and very interesting, though.

Goes for much of your gallery - too bad there's limited time to comment! (Need more hours in the day... or night...)
