A white eagle in a crown on a red shield - that's the polish heraldic symbol. Yet the stork (on photo, Kraków's ZOO, in polish: BOCIAN) is the best, well-known symbol of the polish country. The Poles love the storks so much that many of the countrymen set up cameras near their nest and create websites where you can view the stork's family life 24 hours a day! :) Having a stork build a nest on your farm is considered to be a very good omen - that's why storks are our beloved birds and often make headlines in the newspapers and TV - especially when the leave for Africa in autumn and when they return at spring.
