Not really sure which gallery this goes in, so I stuck it in the landscape gallery. This cross stands at the back of a field set in the "middle" of a woodlot. The current land owner has no idea who constructed the cross and why it is in this field. It has by it's appearance been here for a good number of years. The cross is about 10-12 ft tall and bears no markers. I took the photo from behind looking out over the field, if only because the view from other angles didn't interest me. Plus, I liked the big blue sky. I'm sure the tree will vex a few of you... Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

Wendell - One will always wonder why the cross was placed in this field. There need be no wonder that you did a nice job capturing it in this photo with the beautiful sky as the backdrop. Thad

Thats so cool, gives the cross a nice 3D effect. Once you look at that, the tree really doesn't matter. Nice shot! :)

Wendell...
That's one of the best explanations for a photo I've read on Caedes. You're correct. The blue sky and fluffy clouds make a splendid background for the subject, and the tree seems out of place for your photo. I wish the texture and weathering on the cross could have been emphasized a little more. A first-rate composition.

I think the tree gives a certain balance to the composition, Wendell. It hardly obscures any of that wonderful sky. And your narrative adds a sense of mystery to the picture - which is no bad thing, in my opinion.

Not to worry Wendell I for one know how most trees won't move even when you ask them nicely.
I love the cross with that sky and cotton candy clouds.

Very nice shot - that sky would hard to pass up no matter what the subject. I too think the tree adds balance as I think the shot would wash out a bit too much otherwise.

A really well constructed cross, so straight and true against that gorgeous sky. Terrific image.

Maybe some one died on that spot where the cross is. It's a beautiful picture with that gorgeous sky. Tree? What tree? LOL.
