Welcome to my world of cactus flowers. I recognize the bloom and the cactus. Up until a few years ago I kept a cactus garden and a succulent garden. About 2000 thorns in my fingers later, I ripped out the offending cacti. I still have a few, but these buggers are downright dangerous. When you're a klutz like me, the last thing you need is a cactus garden.
Your shot of the bloom has fabulous clarity and excellent depth of field. I have a tough time with these bright colors on cloudless California days; so nice work on keeping the flower from looking radioactive. Excellent blurred background but I can't make out what was back there. Bit of advice...if you have a cactus garden, don't garden in the nude. And make sure you look behind you before you bend over to remove a weed.
Wendell - The DOF is magnificent. The background, especially the yellow and green stripes the arch to the flower, sets the stage for the cactus. The side angle shows the flower very nicely. Well done! Thad
"I'm never going to be famous. My name will never be writ large on the roster of Those Who Do Things. I don't do any thing. Not one single thing. I used to bite my nails, but I don't even do that any more." -
Dorothy Parker (1893-1967)
Wow i didn't know cactus has flower, 'til I saw this capture. I thought you're joking again. But hmm, maybe you are. Anyways it's a beautiful capture. Well composed.
So very lovely, Wendell! I especially like how the cactus bloom is drinking up the sunshine, and what looks like a gorgeous rainbow in the background! Beautiful clarity and colours too!
