I found these, whatever these are, growing in the undergrowth of the forest in the park. The photo required the classical "not-quite-down-on-my-belly" positioning to get the shot. Followed by a slide back down the slope they were growing on while protecting the camera at all costs.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

It really is an unusual and interesting shot, Wendell. It's a long way from sharp, though. You must have been in a rather uncomfortable position, and sustained some camera movement. It's worth going back for, and jack up your ISO rating tp 800 if necessary, to get just enough depth for that clump, along with a fast enough shutter speed.

Wendell - Seeing nature in its varied stages of development is interesting. I am curious about what they will look like when they open up. As Doug notes, the image is very soft, detracting somewhat from its potential. Thad

I agree about the focus but it was obviously a difficult shot - I think they may turn into some wildflower.

Well, Wendell, Doug took the words out of my mouth or the text off my keyboard. Great subject. I'd head back there with a tripod and shoot these beauties from every angle imaginable using every setting imaginable. Maybe you should try autofocus. If that doesn't work, use that little button just counterclockwise from macro. It's the "perfect" button. Well, I'm all caught up; so have a good one.

P.S. What did you do with those wooden nickles?
