The Hardest Part

As this crow can attest the waiting is the hardest part. One of the visitors to the backyard who come looking for handouts on a daily basis, and sometimes hourly it seems. All you have to do is stick your head out the door and at least one of them shows up out of nowhere looking to see if you've dropped a crumb or two. And if you have they stick around shooting you dirty looks if you don't hasten back inside. Then the fun begins as they descend on the meal and a pecking order is soon established, forcing some to endure an even longer wait.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

This is one of them photo that looks even better enlarged as the bird gives of all is details and love the light in the birds eye.Very nice focus and great capture of light in this shot too.

Very nice telephoto close up of this crow. I'd be curious how he allowed you to get so close to him. I assume that you used that old french fry outfit that's been sitting in the back of your closet since Halloween of 1978. I like your narrative as well. I've watched in amazement as these birds burn off more energy than the food provides by figuring out who should eat next and fighting over scraps of everything. I don't care for the background. I suggest that you hang up one of those white silk sheets from your bed to block all of that unsightly nature.

I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

Ah, distinctly I remember, it was in the bleak December,
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow; vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow, sorrow for the lost Lenore,.
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore,
Nameless here forevermore.

p.s. Neat picture Wendell with great detail in the bird!
