We had set out during the predawn hours to arrive at the hunting grounds in hopes of seeing the herd in passage. We sat in this blind for many hours, rather uncomfortably I might add as no-one had thought to bring so much as a camp stool or soft cushion. Finally late in the afternoon long after the small talk had dried up and the bottles had piled high. This young specimen in its fresh spring coat emerged into the clearing across the stream. I sent my assistant, Jim, out to distract the beast so I could get a clear shot. Sadly he was set upon by a roving pack of ottomans that had come to the stream for a drink. The last I saw of him he was resting comfortably, the lucky sod. In the meantime the bench had disappeared back into the bush. Shortly after that we returned to the camp. I plan on returning as I hear the migration of the picnic tables will soon take place as they return from their winter storage grounds.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

Just be really really careful not to be spotted by one of the picnic tables... They have been known to charge at humans they see as a threat to their offspring, which bear a remarkable resemblance to small charcoal burners.

Great photo of the bench!! What a rare capture deep in nature!!..ha ha....It is actually a really nice pic. I like the way you framed it, so to speak, with the hanging branches; well done and well written.

After reading your comments and then seeing the picture full sized, I couldn't help but wonder about that bench. It looks like a normal bench, but perhaps it does have another life we know nothing about. Interesting shot.

Wendell - You waited a long time for a seat to become available. Glad you got a shot of it before approaching it for the first sit of the season. Thad
