Certainly not the most original of names for a photo of a butterfly. I was going to call this Gloria Goes A-Flyin'. But when I took a closer look I realized this is not Gloria, it's obviously Phyllis. So that plan got thrown out the window.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

Composition: I might have cropped half the distance from the butterfly to the edge off the right and bottom. 7/10

Colors: I really like the muted background. It looks like you isolated the background and desaturated the color a bit. 9/10

Detail/focus: The antennae look great as do the outside of the wings. I probably would have isolated the dark area in the middle and hit it with some sharpening. 8/10

Narrative: Always worth a smile, more often a good laugh, and sometimes a hearty guffaw. A few times I had to change my drawers. 9/10

I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

This has to be among the best I've seen...and the background has to take a bow as well. The colours are a bit flat, and I agree with Roger about more cropping, though mostly to give the subject more space (bigger).

The subdued color is different, and looks great Wendell, I do agree about the crop chop, otherwise this is very nice. Tigs♥ =^..^=

This is beautiful, I, too like the muted background, to me though I like that the butterfly is not in the center and is slightly off. Great work.

I don't think Phyllis, ever looked more beautiful.
I like the composition , think it is a beautiful and interesting background which adds to the overall impact of the shot. Just my opinion.

I like the subdued background - I sometimes do that with my flowers to make the flower stand out more - it's very effective here.

Doesn't matter what you call it - its a beauty !
The butterfly looks great with that subdued background and perfectly placed as well.
I have it on my desktop right now - to remind me it is Spring somewhere in the world.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
