This is a photo of me from 2003. Me and a friend found the sacred swamp, an area 7 miles from Tampa that has a lot of historical significance. This was one of the only raised areas of the surrounding swampland and the Seminoles camped here and ambushed General Dade's Calvary in the second Seminole Indian war around 1840. This area was ripe with towering pines trees, but the logging industry in the 1930's through the 1950's cut most of them down. Now it's populated with a few remnants of the original fauna and scrub and wild coffee.

Hope you enjoyed the outing Alex, your comprehensive narrative is interesting. It's a shame the logging industry deforested the area but at least it gave an opportunity for an alternative natural habitat to thrive.

Interesting, but sad storyline Alex. It is sad that they did not replant.
