Well it was pretty sad to see a carcass of a giraffe lying there between the dust and the vultures – but it is nature and every one has to eat. It was amazing to see so many vultures together, flicking up all that dust.

what a bizarre shot - from the thumbnail it looks like a gruesome oil painting and is quite fascinating blown up. nature is cruel and harsh at times so thanks for bringing this to us.

Whoa! That's something you don't see every day! (er, ahh, I don't see every day) Some roadkill with a few buzzards maybe. That's quite a capture Nicola, it's not a shot for the squeamish but fortunately I'm not very squeamish. Circle of Life, right? Not that I don't feel sorry for the giraffe. What's the difference between a vulture and a buzzard? Nobody I've ever asked knows. Anyway, that's an amazing capture Nicola. Thanks for sharing such incredible portrayels of African wildlife. It's a lot diffrent in a natural habitat, more interesting.

This is truly a fascinating picture. It's sad, yeah, but likely only for those who aren't normally exposed to normal scenes from life, such as this (like me!!). It's neat how there is a dusty brown haze to all the gazing, feathered eaters. Neat also how there is really only one who is busily at work while the rest look off at something. Neat that the ribs are so stark in comparison. It's just a great photo, which I like very much. And that's from an animal lover who rescues bugs from the house instead of killing them :-))

Great pic. I like how it shows the cycle of life & death of the natural world. The thing that really got me to comment is how my breathing starts choking up, like I'm stuck in all of that dust. A very engaging shot.
