Another morning shot from a pier in Phoenix, N.Y. near lock 28. The shot is facing upstream so it may seem like it's tilted, but there are two horizon levels. I wanted to make this look as close to HDR with only one shot as I could. So I had to use alot of burn and dodge handtools on certain areas with opacity set to 10. While trying to maintain the dark and moodyness of the whole scene. The ducks in the foreground as well as detail on the concrete could not have been seen otherwise. Thanks for stopping by, and feel free to leave any comments! :D

Nice shot, Jay.

Perhaps, a slight ... slight rotation CCW is in order?

Great natural colour and good use of that leading line created by the rocks above the water line to guide your viewers' eyes to that of the sunrise. Which is nicely balanced (visual interest) across the treeline tops.

Thanks for sharing this one with us. I enjoy it very much. :o)

EDIT: Just read your accompanying narrative once more. I do understand what you are saying ... to my eyes, and in my humble opinion of course ... I most likely would have made a slight correction (using the middle'ish shoreline as the reference) or perhaps, even made use of the Edit --> Transform --> Warp functionality in CS2 Photoshop.

No biggie, though. Just an observation on my part and it is a nice shot. :o)

Even more moody and solitary than the others. Beautiful grey blue hues enhance. Love the snowy shoreline sandwiched between those dark trees and the water. Wonderfully composed and presented.

Not sure what Les meant by rotating ccw, but I like the way this leads across the page and of course I like your use of lighting and color.
